Logitech G502 HERO review: the do-it-all gaming mouse that never really goes out of style

Verdict: a genuine do-it-all mouse that has aged remarkably well. The button count, tunable weight, and HERO sensor still punch above the price — just know going in that it’s wired and on the heavier side.

The specs that matter

How heavy is the G502 HERO?

121 g — 4.27 oz, mouse only. That’s Logitech’s own figure, and it’s what you get out of the box before adding anything. Two things the number by itself doesn’t tell you:

• The cable isn’t counted. This is the wired HERO, so 121 g covers the mouse body only; the braided cable Logitech lists at 2.1 m (6.89 ft) sits on top of that, though a bungee takes most of it off your hand.
• You can add 18 g back. Five 3.6 g tuning weights ship in the box, so a fully loaded G502 HERO lands around 139 g. They drop in and out in seconds and can sit front, rear, left, right, or centre — the system shifts balance, not just heft.

Worth knowing before you buy

• It’s wired, and it’s heavy. At 121g (plus optional weights) this is a comfort-and-control mouse, not a lightweight for fast flick aiming.
• Right-handed, ergonomic shell. The contoured shape suits right-handed palm and claw grips; left-handers should look elsewhere.
• Mind the family. Logitech also sells the wireless G502 LIGHTSPEED, the G502 X, and X Plus — confirm you’re buying the wired HERO if that’s the one you want.

Who it’s for

Anyone who wants maximum buttons, adjustable weight, and a proven sensor without paying flagship-wireless money — and who doesn’t need an ultra-light or wireless build. It remains one of the safest wired gaming-mouse recommendations around.
